Halal & quality
Honest about halal, batch by batch
We do not put a halal claim on a product until we hold the certificate for the batch we sell. Here is exactly how we check.
How we check
Four steps for every product, before and after it reaches our shelves.
-
We name the factory
Every product page says who makes it, under "Where does it come from?", so you can see exactly where it is made.
-
We ask what it is made from
For gummies and softgels we ask the manufacturer where the gelatine or collagen comes from.
-
We request the certificate per batch
A certificate belongs to a batch, not to a brand. We ask for the one that matches the stock we actually receive.
-
We publish it, or say we are waiting
Once we hold the certificate the product shows Certificate on file. Until then it says Certificate requested, never more than that.
What the labels mean
Each product page shows one of these, under Halal in the At a glance panel.
-
Certificate on file
We hold the certificate for this batch
The manufacturer has sent us the halal certificate for the batch we sell, and we publish it on the product page. Ask us if you would like a copy.
-
Certificate requested
We have asked, but do not hold it yet
We have requested the certificate from the manufacturer. Until it arrives we do not call the product certified. You can decide for yourself, or ask us where things stand.
-
Ask us for details
No status recorded yet
We have not recorded a status for this product yet. Contact us and we will tell you exactly what we know.
What we promise, and what we do not
Clear lines, so you know what to expect from us.
We do
- Name the manufacturer on every product page
- Request the halal certificate for each batch we receive
- Publish the certificate once we hold it
- Ask where gelatine and collagen come from
- Tell you plainly when a certificate is still pending
We do not
- Call a product halal certified before we hold the certificate
- Use a halal logo we cannot back up
- Use one certificate for every batch
- Give medical advice; ask your GP or pharmacist
Halal questions
Straight answers. If yours is not here, ask us.
Is everything you sell halal certified?
Not every product has a certificate on file yet. We ask for the halal certificate of each batch and publish it once we hold it. Each product page shows its current status, so you never have to guess.
Why not just say "halal" on every product?
Because we would rather show you than tell you. A halal claim should be backed by a certificate for the batch you receive. Until we hold one, saying so would not be honest.
What about gelatine and collagen?
For gummies and softgels we ask the manufacturer for the source of the gelatine or collagen. If you want to know what we have been told for a specific product, ask us and we will share it.
Can I see a certificate?
Yes. Where we hold one it is published on the product page, and you can also ask us for a copy.
Which certification body issues the certificates?
That depends on the manufacturer of each product. The certificate itself names the body that issued it.
Want to know about a specific product?
Tell us which product and we will share what we hold for that batch.
